She has practiced obstetrics and gynecology in North Carolina and joined Academy Women’s Healthcare in July 2012. Dr. Asbee considers it an honor to care for women through all phases of life, adolescence through menopause.
Dr. Asbee completed her undergraduate work at The University of Iowa (1999) and her medical degree at The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine (2004).
She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC (2008).
Dr. Asbee enjoys using her God-given talents and abilities to provide quality care to women.
She feels blessed to be able to empower women at all stages of life to optimize their health and overall well-being.
Dr. Asbee is particularly skilled at preventive care, minimally invasive surgery, adolescent gynecology, and general obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Asbee and her family-husband Greg, daughter Finnli, son Joseph, and black lab Josie enjoy being active including hiking and camping.
Dr. Asbee is very passionate about fitness and enjoys volleyball, basketball, running, and adventure races.
She also prioritizes being involved in her church, Woodmen Heights, as an AWANA leader and community group host and involved in the community as the volunteer medical director of Life Network and a basketball coach through the YMCA.
He joined Academy Women’s Healthcare Associates in 2002 and feels blessed to have the additional ability to serve those in the Spanish-speaking community.
Through a college basketball scholarship, Dr. Baiza attended The University of Incarnate Word. He graduated Texas A&M Med School (1994) and went on to be an assistant professor at Texas A&M Health Science Center (1998-2002). He was APGO-Texas Med School teacher of the year in 2002.
Dr. Baiza knew he wanted to practice medicine when he was just 10 years old. He says it is a blessing from the Lord and an honor to care for patients.
He understands the trust women place in him during some of the most special and challenging times of life–from pregnancy and childbirth to menopause and gynecological surgeries.
He wants every patient to feel assured that they are given the best care available and that he will take the time to listen to them.
Dr. Baiza is most proud of his marriage to Raquel (since 1992) and two children, Reagan, Social Worker in Austin Texas and Lauren, who currently attends Northeastern University.
His main interests are Bible study, laughing and dining with friends and family, and playing sports of all kinds, especially basketball, skiing, and fly fishing.
He attends Grace Bible Church and serves actively in the teaching ministry.
She completed her obstetrics and gynecology internship and residency at Lackland Air Force Base in 1997.
Dr. Cassidy strives to give each patient excellent care.
One of the things she finds most fulfilling is to walk beside a woman during pregnancy and to share in the joy of new birth. She also counts it a privilege to provide guidance during women’s transitions in life, sometimes this means sharing in the sorrow of infertility or pregnancy loss.
In all that she does as a doctor, she seeks to show Christ’s love and compassion to every patient.
Dr. Cassidy, who is married with two sons, has varied interests in outdoor activities such as hiking, ATV riding, and camping with her family, while reveling in the beauty of God’s creation.
She enjoys travel-the highlight was a recent hiking trip through Egypt, Jordan, and Israel. She enjoys a variety of live music venues including Blues and Colorado Springs Philharmonic concerts.
She and her husband are long-term members of Pulpit Rock Church. Her favorite ways to relax and unwind are cycling and outdoor landscaping.
Dr. Cassidy has a special interest in Ecuador and has gone there twice for short-term medical mission work.
Dr. Toby Genrich grew up in District 20 and returned to Colorado Springs in October, 2012.
He feels very fortunate to be back in his hometown and blessed to have the opportunity to practice in the same town that his father, a pediatrician, practiced for over 40 years.
Dr. Genrich graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in Mass Communications in 1992. He pursued a career in corporate public relations in Boston where he also received a Master of Arts degree in Business Communications from Emerson College in 1994.
After several years in “the business world” including a position as Executive Director for the Pikes Peak Region of the American Heart Association, and serving as Vice President of Corporate Development for the Pikes Peak United Way, Dr. Genrich felt called to medicine and changed career paths.
Dr. Genrich completed his medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine in 2004 and went on to complete his obstetrics and gynecology residency in the U.S. Air Force at Wright Patterson Medical Center/Wright State University in Dayton, OH.
He has extensive experience in obstetrics, minimally-invasive and robotic surgery, pelvic pain management, vulvar cosmetic surgery, as well as adolescent and menopausal gynecologic care.
I feel strongly that God had a plan for me (and my family) all along – I just wasn’t listening closely enough. I know that being back in Colorado Springs and doing what I love, is where we are supposed to be.”
Dr. Genrich feels blessed to have married his High School sweetheart, Lori (Clark) Genrich who is a speech and language pathologist. They have three beautiful children – Madeline, Emma and Tyler.
Dr. Robin Mills feels blessed to care for women during some of the most pivotal points of their lives.
Dr. Robin Mills grew up in Northwest Ohio. She practiced in Fort Collins, Colorado for two years before returning to the midwest where she practiced for several years in Indiana.
She returned to Colorado to join Academy Women’s Healthcare Associates in July, 2014.
Dr. Mills completed her udergraduates work at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan (1996) and her medical degree at The Ohio State University of Medicine (2000). She remained at The Ohio State University Medical Center to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Mills enjoys all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, from office based work, to routine and high risk obstetrics and gynecology surgery.
She believes in taking care of the whole patient and that a woman’s physical, spiritual, and emotional health are closely connected.
Dr. Mills enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two sons. Together, they frequently go hiking, backpacking, skiing, and snowboarding.
Dr. Larry O’Connell, who grew up in the Seattle area, has been with Academy Women’s Healthcare Associates since 1998.
He has brought a great mix of clinical and surgical experience to AWHA. He has enjoyed outside employment as an instructor for laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques.
Dr. O’Connell completed his undergraduate work at Washington State University (1983) and his medical degree at University of Nebraska College of Medicine (1993, magna cum laude), where he was co-valedictorian.
He served his obstetrics and gynecology residency in the U.S. Air Force, Keesler Air Force Base.
With few exceptions, pregnancy and birth are happy times for each patient.
Dr. O’Connell enjoys playing a part in this memorable occasion in the patient’s life and interacting with the family.
He particularly enjoys being part of the Colorado Springs community and loves that his children are going to school and playing sports with the same children that he helped bring into the world.
He is experienced in caring for women of every age, from teens through menopause. He values establishing long-term patient and family relationships.
He and his family—wife Beverly and children Colt, Hannah, and Luke, enjoy outdoor life in Colorado: fly-fishing, hiking, camping, skiing, and horseback riding.
His oldest child is now in college and the younger two attend Discovery Canyon Campus, in District 20.
Dr. O’Connell has made a long-term commitment to missions for orphans and widowed moms in Uganda, east Africa. Since 2003 he has traveled yearly to East Africa.
He and others have just finished building a surgery center in the Northern Uganda city of Lira.
Reflecting on those experiences, he is particularly excited about the number of young adults who traveled with him and are now practicing in a number of medical fields. He hopes that they and his children have learned by first-hand experience how they can use their skills and vocations to serve and impact the lives of others.
Dr. David Stark is a Chicago area native who has happily called Colorado Springs home since he cofounded Academy Women’s Healthcare in 1993.
He is dedicated to providing the highest quality of compassionate care for women in all stages of life.
A physician who takes the time to listen, Dr. Stark is pleased to partner with his patients to resolve issues and achieve their goals of health and wellness.
Dr. Stark is a leading provider of gynecologic and obstetric services including laparoscopic hysterectomies as well as robotic surgical options.
Married since 1989 to his beautiful wife April, Dr. Stark is the proud father of four young adult sons. The Starks are active members of Grace Bible Church and they enjoy travelling and playing games.
He completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City 1991.
Dr. Weary was raised in Houston, Texas, and has been with Academy Women’s Healthcare Associates since he concluded his residency in 1996.
Dr. Weary strives to earn each patient’s trust and confidence, serving her as if she were a family member.
He cherishes the honor of walking alongside patients and their families during pregnancies and joyful deliveries, and also offers a compassionate servant’s heart through the hard times of pregnancy loss.
Because of his professional interest in laparoscopic hysterectomy, he is pleased to offer new minimally invasive surgical options to patients.
Dr. Weary and his wife are the proud parents of two sets of twins—one daughter and three sons.
They enjoy spending time with family, small group involvement through their home church of Woodmen Valley Chapel, and entrepreneurial business projects that offer new services to our community.
Dr. Weary serves as a board member to Life Network whose mission is to cultivate a community that values life through love of Christ. He also serves on the board of Sonrise Mountain Ranch, a nonprofit organization with a mission to grow Great Commandment, Great Commission families.
Katie joined AWHA in 2015 and brings over 10 years of working with women as a Registered Nurse, a certified lactation counselor and a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.
She is passionate about working with and empowering women to achieve their wellness goals.
As a partner in healthcare, Katie takes the time to really listen to her patients and explore options for care together.
Katie specializes in adolescent care, birth control counseling, especially long-acting reversible contraception (LARCs), breastfeeding counseling and complete health and wellness.
She believes in holistic healthcare, looking at the entire person.
Katie grew up in Miami, FL and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder (Go Buffs!). She received her RN degree from Pikes Peak CC in Colorado Springs and her MSN from Frontier Nursing University.
Katie lives in Castle Rock with her husband and 3 beautiful children where they enjoy hiking and roasting s’mores around the fire. She and her family love to travel, ski and attend local sporting events.
